Friends with Benefits was created by chef/owner Jorge Guzmán in 2023 as a way to cook with friends whom he rarely sees and gave him an opportunity to give back to the community at the same time. Chef has invited some of the most notable chefs in the country to Minneapolis to just “hang out” and cook together all the while donating all the proceeds to charity. If you ask him he’ll say “selfishly i just wanted to cook with chefs I really admire and look up too and wouldn’t have a chance to otherwise” and what a better way to raise awareness for charity and give back.
Dan Jacobs is an American chef and restaurateur known for his innovative approach to dining. He co-owns EsterEv, a tasting menu experience with global influences, and DanDan, a modern Chinese-American concept with a distinct Midwestern twist. His culinary excellence has earned him five James Beard Foundation semi-finalist nominations for Best Chef Midwest (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024).
Beyond the kitchen, Jacobs serves on the board of the Independent Restaurant Coalition (IRC). He played a pivotal role in creating the Restaurant Revitalization Fund and was among just four Americans to speak with President-Elect Biden on behalf of independent restaurateurs.
All proceeds from Friends with Benefits will go to these charities.
